Congratulations to Madelyn Schmidt, MD, a Class of 2026 UTMB SOM graduate, on the publication of her original investigation, “Postoperative Inflammatory Complications Do Not Increase the Risk of Subsequent Primary Skin Cancer. The article appeared online (ahead of publication) in Advances in Skin & Wound Care. Dr. Schmidt will return to UTMB next July to begin dermatology residency. Her co-authors were UTMB PGY3 Dermatology Resident Travis Dowdle, MD and UTMB Professor Dermatology and Mohs Fellowship Director, Richard Wagner, MD.
