Keeping Track of Abstracts

UTMB DIG members are among the most academically productive medical students for abstract submissions to multiple dermatology meetings, including TDS, AAD, NSRP, and dermatology subspecialty meetings. Our medical students are often the first author, with “trifecta“ collaborating co-authors (dermatology residents/fellows and faculty). In an effort to keep track of all of this activity, DIG members are requested to submit copies of all their submitted abstracts to Ms. Michelle Karn (mikarn@utmb.edu) in the Dermatology Chair’s office. UTMB residents and fellows are required to submit an abstract in order to be reimbursed for travel and meeting registration by the department, even though their abstract may not be accepted for a presentation where it is submitted for consideration.

New Peds-focused Dermatology Residency Track at Penn: 4 years program, yr 1 at CHOP, yr 2-4 at Penn

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Section of Dermatology and Penn Medicine’s Department of Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania would like to announce a newly combined PGY 1-4 Pediatric Dermatology focused residency track.

This new track includes a PGY 1 pediatric internship year at CHOP, and PGY 2-4 dermatology residency position (with dedicated time to pediatric dermatology training throughout the 3-year dermatology residency, including development of a pediatric dermatology outpatient continuity clinic starting as early as PGY 1 year).

Strong candidates who are committed to a career in pediatric dermatology are encouraged to apply for this unique opportunity, which requires a combined match. The preliminary pediatric year and dermatology residency years will involve a pediatric dermatology continuity clinic throughout. Graduates of the program will be expected to board certify in General Dermatology. We anticipate most graduates will likely plan to subsequently complete a 1-year Pediatric Dermatology fellowship post residency.

Interviews will occur over a 1-day schedule and will include coordinated interviews with both the CHOP Pediatric Residency Directors and Penn Dermatology Faculty.

Applications will be handled through the Department of Dermatology. For more information, please visit: https://dermatology.upenn.edu/residents/residency-tracks/

Please pay close attention to ERAS / NRMP details regarding this and other tracks.

If interested or you have any additional questions, please contact:
