Congratulations to UTMB MS4 Brittany Miles Miles for her recent poster presentation at the 2022 meeting of the Society of Investigative Dermatology. Using the TriNetX database, she and co-author Michael Wilkerson (UTMB Dermatology Chari) presented their research, “LB918 The dark side of hydroquinone for skin lightening: 3-fold increased risk of skin cancer - a cohort study.” Their study showed that human use of hydroquinone increased the risk of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers by more than three times.
