The July 2018 issue of JAMA Dermatology contained
a Research Letter (154:844-846) from Harvard Medical School that
analyzed the careers of dermatology residents certified by the American
Board of Dermatology in 2015. It was found that dermatologists with
advanced academic degrees were more likely to enter academic
dermatology. Dermatologists who had 2 or more preresidency publications
indexed in PubMEd were more likely to enter academics compared to those
with 0 or 1. Dermatologists with 4 or more dermatology PubMed residency
publications were also more likely to be found in an academic career 2
years after dermatology residency completion.
The Dermatology Interest Group at The University of Texas Medical Branch (DIG @UTMB) is a resource for medical students interested in Dermatology as well as for dermatologists and residents.
