Don’t miss the article, “Trends of Research Output of Allopathic Medical Students Matching into Dermatology, 2007-2018” published in the August 2021 issue of JAMA Dermatology (157:983-987). The bottom line was that matched applicants had more peer-reviewed indexed publications over this timeframe (1.6 to 4.7) and that publication in lower-impact factor dermatology journals was increasing at a higher rate than high-impact factor dermatology journals. However, compared to NRMP self-reported research items, indexed publications have remained stable from 2007 to 2018.
