17th Annual Steps Against Melanoma Walk

On Sunday, March 4th, 2023, the UTMB Dermatology and Plastics Reconstructive Surgery Interests Groups teamed up with the AIM at Melanoma Foundation to host the 17th Annual Melanoma Walk at The Fort Crockett Park on Seawall. The event was a fun-filled morning with delicious food, live music, exciting raffle prizes from local venues, and over 30 participants who completed a 1-mile walk or 5k run. Thanks to the support of all the participants and sponsors, the walk helped raise over $1000 in support of melanoma research. Thank you to the organizers and volunteers who helped make this event a success!!

The Re-Applicant Panel

We are putting together a panel to encourage and inform any of our allies applying this cycle who do not match into a dermatology residency. This panel will take place on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 8:30PMto 9:30PM EDT. This panel will include residents who did not match into dermatology their first time applying, but subsequently were successful in matching. These residents should be able to provide valuable insight into what they did to be successful re-applicants and will be able to answer any questions that you have about this process. There will also be at least one program director who will share their perspective on what they look for when they evaluate the applications of re-applicants.

Please fill out the google form here https://forms.gle/dxoPW5XfCcD8uqQ8A to share any questions you would have for the panelists if you did not match. This form is completely anonymous, and no names will be shared during the panel, so please feel free to ask any question you may be wondering about.

Additionally, if you know of any program directors or any residents that were successful dermatology re-applicants that may be interested in being one of the panelists, please respond to this email and let us know! You may reach out to them first to verify their interest before sharing their contact information with us if you prefer, or we are happy to reach out to them directly as well if you provide their contact information to us.

Thank you so much for your participation! We are confident that the information shared during this panel will be extremely useful for students at all stages of the application process.
