New York Times Article Criticizes Current Resident Surgeon Work Hour Rules
According to New York Times physician writer Dr. Pauline W. Chen (Are Today’s New Surgeons Unprepared? New York Times, December 12, 2013) the current limitation of physician work hours during surgical residency is having unintended consequences. In her well researched article, Dr. Chen presents substantial evidence that well intended regulations by the ACGME have adversely impacted the clinical proficiency of many new surgeons.
