Her winning essay was entitled, "St. Anthony's Fire: A Historical Focus on Gangrenous Ergotism." This $500 award and plaque is sponsored by an educational grant from Beiersdorf Inc to the UTMB Department of Dermatology to stimulate medical student interest in the history of dermatology and to recognize excellent original historical research on this topic. To be eligible for this award, UTMB and visiting medical students must enroll in UTMB's 4-week elective DERU-4008 (History of Dermatology) and submit an original historical essay on a topic of their choice. Dr. Harris will take her internship at UT-Southwestern in Dallas, Texas, to be followed by an Emergency Medicine Residency at the same institution. Congratulations Dr. Harris!
