Dr. Brenda Carrillo, a former UTMB medical student (and now in dermatology residency at Dell) and Dr. Anthony Linfante, UTMB Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Dermatopathology (and several other coauthors) were awarded 1st place in for their poster about Mpox at the 2024 Fall TDS meeting.

UTMB Dermatopathology Fellowship Fills for 2026-2027 Academic Year
Dr. Katherine Woolridge, a current PGY3 UTMB dermatology resident, has accepted
a dermatology fellowship position in the UTMB Dermatopathology Fellowship. She
will join Dr. Mary Cavanagh, another
UTMB PGY2 dermatology resident, to fill both fellowship positions for that

$600 DIG Funding Received from Alumni Association Board
Children Obtaining Dermatology Education through Bulletin Boards (CODE BB) is a new project being implemented at Crenshaw Middle School through DIG this year and was recently awarded $500 by the Alumni Association for project funding. CODE BB’s aim is to provide dermatology education to middle school students through the use of creative and informative bulletin boards that will present a new dermatology topic each month. Volunteer sign-ups will be sent out in the DIG GroupMe soon! Feel free to reach out to Casey Brusen (cabrusen@utmb.edu) or Lynchi Nguyen (lypnguye@utmb.edu) if you have any questions!Good Skin Knowledge (GSK) program is supported by the AAD with a goal of educating youth on good skin, hair and nail health, and reducing stigma and bullying. In addition to a $300 grant given by the AAD, GSK was recently awarded $100 by the Alumni Association for project funding. There will be four workshops held at Austin Elementary School. DIG Featured in Galveston County Daily News Ahead of UTMB’s Partnership with Galveston ISD
DIG leadership has been actively working with Principal Ramirez to create exciting new learning opportunities at the newly opened Austin Elementary, a school with a focus on Arts and Health Sciences. Through funding from the AAD Good Skin Knowledge Grant, DIG will provide educational programs aimed at teaching elementary students about skin, nail, and hair health with the goal to reduce stigma and bullying related to dermatological conditions.
