JAMA published invaluable advice to mentees and their mentors in the February 7, 2017 issue (2017;317:475-476). In, “Mentee missteps: tales from the academic trenches,” three University of Michigan co-authors offer critical analysis about different types of problematic mentees they have encountered: the overcommitter, the ghost, the doormat, the vampire, the lone wolf, and the backstabber. Potential solutions for both the mentee and the mentor are offered. This article offers very sound advice!
