NRMP Summary of 2012 Dermatology Match
22 of the 23 categorical dermatology PGY1 positions offered by 10 residency programs were filled by US MS4s (153 US MS4 applicants) and 1 non-US IMG. There were 107 dermatology residency programs that offered 340 advanced (PGY2) positions in 2012. There were 508 applicants for these positions (385 US MS4s). 288 (84.7%) of US MS4s successfully matched into dermatology positions, as did 34 US grads, 3 osteopathic students, 3 US IMGs, and 1 non-US IMG. 11 residency slots in 8 programs went unfilled. Dermatology had the highest percentage of unmatched applicants who ranked only one specialty (38.8%) in 2012.
