The Galveston County Health Fair had a great turn out this past Saturday, March 12, 2011! Here, UTMB DIG Volunteers provided educational handouts on sun protection and skin cancer awareness along with the newest addition to our booth, poison ivy recognition and contact dermatitis. The UTMB DIG booth provided hands-on activities including, decorating sunvisors, making UV bead bracelets, and distributing poison ivy coloring sheets. These activities and handouts allowed us to reach out to over 140 members of the local community. One lucky winner was selected to receive the DIG's doorprize, a basket full of sunscreens, sunglasses, a visor, a sunbrella, and other sun protection items and information. Thanks to everyone who volunteered!
