UTMB DIG Volunteers Participate in National Psoriasis Foundation’s “Take ACTION for Psoriatic Disease”

On Saturday, September 30th, 2023, UTMB DIG volunteers helped set up, participate, and clean up after the National Psoriasis Foundation’s (NPF) “Take ACTION for Psoriatic Disease” event at the Houston Zoo. Volunteers arrived before dawn and assisted with preparing and disseminating informational pamphlets to participants, distributing light fare, setting up tables, and networking with medical student colleagues from local Houston campuses. Various pharmaceutical representatives were also present and supported the NPF’s cause through donations. Upon conclusion of the event’s main presentation, volunteers with UTMB DIG assisted with clean up and were encouraged to explore the zoo for the remainder of the day.

Special thanks to Carol Osterhaus, the regional development manager for the NPF’s south central branch, for working closely with Shayan Ravanassa and Sebastian Certuche in the planning of this event. Osterhaus expresses interest in continuing to work with UTMB DIG on an upcoming NPF formal gala event at the Omni hotel in Houston around April 2024. We look forward to sharing any developments surrounding this future event, should we receive them!
